So when you coming to kansas? Lmao
Very nice work! Can't wait to see the finished product.
I am sure you can't either with all the labor you have put into the car.
Q
Haha i'd like to come to Kansas for that GLHS you've got on here for sale! ...i really wanna buy one and import it to Canada. Yeah i cant wait to get this bodywork done... the doors were the hardest part of the entire car, so hopefully everything else goes along faster... i doubt it tho!
K I will send you with both cars and you can paint the Daytona for me and I will give you a discount on the GLHS LMAO!
Hood stripped of all paint... not a single dent, . Tomorrow i'll orbital it with 120 grit and put it in primer.
What it looks like right now.
I'm gonna have a ton of pics by the time this car is finished! Anyways here are some more pics.... the hood is all finished and ready for paint. I primered the hood and blocked it in 220grit and then put it in primer again, so it's ready for paint.
Orbitaled in 180grit.
In primer.
Prepped underneath.
Basecoat.
Cleared.
looking real good i can not wait to see it all done
Wow it seems to be coming along well.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks guys!
I got the front bumper in primer tonight... I reinforced the backside of the bumper with a piece of 18GA metal which i epoxied on to get rid of a few ripples. I then used plastic filler to smooth it out even more.. here's what it looks like as of now.
that car is going to look perfect
keep up the good work
I look forward to reading your next post
Me too.
This car is going to great finished!
Thanks guys for the compliments! Just incase anybody doesnt know... doing bodywork sucks!
I don't have much to show, but the front bumper is finished... it got it's final primering last night and today i painted all the edges, which was alot of work in masking! (i masked it because it's PITA to wetsand the overspray paint when it comes time to wetsand the car for paint) The next thing on my list to do is the front fenders.
Stripped.
Bodywork finished.... there were no big dents in the fenders, so i just had to putty them where they needed it. The passenger side fender was a little wavy so i had alot more bodywork to do on it.
In high build primer.
I got the rear fibreglass tail panels finished as well... sanded and put in primer, then i based and cleared all the edges. (this pic is shown only based, not cleared)
Tomorrow i will block the fenders out and put them in primer once more and then they should be ready for paint. I will also paint all the edges of the fenders and the top of the Rad. support. When i pull the motor/trans out to put the new motor in, im going to paint the engine compartment, but that wont be for a while.
This morning i blocked the fenders out with 180 grit and decided to primer and block them out again, so i blocked them in 220grit tonight and put them in primer for the 3rd time and now there perfect.
I also cut the windshield out tonight and found some rust from the previous douche that cut the window out and scratched the pinchweld, . it's not thru anywhere... i guess i got it in time because it's more surface rust then anything. The wire wheel should clean it up perfect... i already started cleaning it up with the wire wheel.
Very nice work sir!
Glad to see it still coming along.
I can't wait to drive into my car when the time comes.
Q
Damn, i'm still stuck trying to figure out how to get the trim off the car....
Phenominal work sir. looks like its going to be one hell of a ride.
Thanks! I hope my car gives you lots of incentive to start the bodywork and paint on your car,
Thanks, yeah i cant wait to get this car finished!
If you've got any questions on the T-top trim removal just PM me and i'll help you out the best i can, . It's really not that hard to remove... there's lots of rivets and tiny screws hidden under sealent, but as long as you go slow and don't force anything it should come apart easily. Be prepared to dish out about $600 in new seals and felting when you decide to remove the trim.
Tonight i finished cleaning up the pinchweld and then i sprayed on some 1:1 dupont acid etch (nasty stuff) so there will never be any rust coming back around the window frame! I also prepped all around the fender edges and top of the rad. support, so tomorrow night i will paint the edges and around the window frame.
After this i'm gonna remove the rear hatch and glass (not looking forward to this!) i wanna remove it so i can paint it properly and put a new molding on it.
cars looking good man
