    spindle knuckle questions

does anybody know if the spindles/knuckles from a '89 daytona shelby TII are the same as the '92 2.5T1 iroc?

I don't believe they are. I'm not sure what the differences are exactly, but I have read that they are different on account of some changes brought about by the switch to the cast control arms.

    91+ knuckle

The biggest difference is the caliper adapter is bolted on. on the older knuckle its cast into the knuckle as one piece. Brake pads/calipers are totally different between the two.

and i believe that the 91+ spindle balljoint mounts are located an inch down giving you a better roll center

You have it backwards, the older knuckles use bolt-on caliper brackets, the newer ones are cast into the spindle.

They are not the same but should be interchangeable if you swap both in.

They are, I have IROC R/T spindles (and brakes) on my '89 Lebaron.

*sigh* Here we go AGAIN! I seriously need to make a whole write-up on this with Chris Still's help and make it a sticky!

The '89/'90 11" brake spindles have CAST-IN caliper adapters with bolt-in hubs.

The '91-up spindles ALL use bolt-on caliper adapters and bolt-in hubs. Also, the ball joint mount is moved about 3/4" down to improve the roll center of the car.(there is a slight debate on whether they are moved out as well, but I believe I actually have that info written down.

As far as interchangability...you *can*, but I don't suggest it. The reason is that it will mess up your roll center of the car and it won't handle as well. You may not immediately notice it, but it WILL be there.

And then the newest ones use bolt on caliper brackets again. The calipers are also different. I am not sure if the rotors are the same or not.

All of the bolt on wheel bearings are compatible.

Wrong, the older knuckles EXCEPT 11 inch which have cast in ears use bolt on calipers or adapter brackets, all 91 and up use bolt on adapters but Dodge made it simple to swap brake sizes, just find the matching caliper and adapter of the size you want.

I've done it, see here and if we need to change anything, PM me.-

Mixing and matching stuff can cause the CV to blow apart, it could be on vans only but that's what happened to me, putting newer stuff on older control arms moved my wheels out and forward and my axles let go as they got over extended.
