    alive and driven, but......

I feel silly asking this question, but I find myself 2nd guessing what I think I know.

The shadow was driven to work today for the 1st time. It's SUPER slow, I was almost certain the cam timing is correct, but the ignition timing , I'm not too sure of.

Now for the question- Will a really retarded ignition timing problem cause the car to be super slow AND cause the turbo housing to GLOW ORANGE?

I'm just 2nd guessing myself here. I'm almost certain it will, but just need to be re-assured. Thanks.

A plugged cat would also do that.

Check the ignition timing though. I changed the engine in my van, and it was running ok. Vacuum was a little low, and it was kinda dead. I checked the ignition timing and set it to 14* and it was a whole new beast! It was awesome. If you didn't set it...I highly recommend you do so!

For sure I'll check it friday at work.

Oh yeah, only has 2 1/2 feet of downpipe. That's it.

Exhaust was too long after the tbi header / intake manifold project this winter. So I borrowed a sawzall and now the pipes overlap a little. No cat-no anything!!! I felt sick after the drive in (37kms or 25 miles) the fumes were unbearable. My ears are still ringing.
