I'll jump on the seven year old wagon..its low mileage though
Been thinking about buying the vw wastegate clip. Expensive option but failure in this area is a zero tolerance idea.

40 bucks for a clip!?!?!? I'm in the wrong business! Spend 4 cents on some sheetmetal, bend it into a clip and sell for 1,000 times that. Thank goodness they use a little lube and offer free shipping!

I stick a loop of safety wire in my twisty piers. I can reach under the intake and hook it over the peg and pull. I've never had a rod pop off doing it that way.

Damn that messed up yo! Haha! Been rolling TD's since 95.
For some reason in my head I keep thinking if that clip falls off you get full boost but you are correct. That sucker would be flapping in the breeze and no boost would happen.
I did see this DSM turbo with a clip that looked like a mini hitch pin but with another loop that fit over the wastegate rod. Would require drilling a hole in the rod but looked like it worked a charm. Now I cant find the link.
