One of 6 that were sold by IROC when they went to the Firebird. Only 1 modified to be street legal and actually street driven.

wow crazy
Thats awesome.
Seriously BADASS!
Aside from the obvious things like a horn and blinkers/lights...I wonder how the issue of windshield wipers and things like emissions were handled?

yes, and that one says Martin on the back... wonder if he won the iroc title that year. As a Mark Martin fan, that would be the one I'd own.

That is freakin awesome. I've always wondered what happened to the Daytona's that were used in the IROC series. I've always wanted to own one. Its that much cooler to see something like this in reality!
I never knew they sold any of those. I always wondered what happened to these cars like Nascar or Indy when they retire them.
A yellow Avenger driven by Al Unser Jr. is in the showroom at Papa's Dodge in New Britain, CT. I don't know how they got it but the family has quite the collection of Mopars and other unique vehicles.
I always liked the Avenger style and thought that it would make an awesome SRT type of vehicle with a H.O. 3.5 V6 or a Turbo 4.
Nice Find.
Barrett Jackson auction is where some of these type of NASCAR show up.
IROC was a little different than Nascar, being a buisness venture. While it is a Nascar with a Banjo Mathews chassis etc. They were not used and abused every weekend. IROC sold off only 6 @ 45K each until they found out one of them ended up on the street and supposedly stopped selling them and scrapped the rest. Of the 6 sold 3 are in the hands of Nascar drivers/museums, 3 are in private hands. The 3 private owners were originally in Ohio and associated with Frederick Dodge, from there 1 remains in Ohio(Allison/Martin Blue Car), 1 in Oklahoma(Martin Red Car) and 1 in California(Gurney Green Car).
Funny you mention that the IROC was dirrerent than NASCAR. I remember when they switched to the IROC Dodges and Earnhart commented that he wished his NASCAR drove as well as the Daytona

The shot being driven on the street was at the Hot Rod Supernationals in Boardman/Canfield Ohio on Rt224 in front of the Boardman Plaza.
On a side note: The Supernationals have been brought back to Boardman/Canfield Ohio again with a 5 year contract starting June 25th 2010 And should be better than ever now. This was just announced 2 days ago.
