Hi!
My 86 SC has a very abused motor... Ive got a T1 motor from my 85 laser just sitting in a corner. If i swapped the 86 ECU for an 85 unit would the 85 engine work ok in the SC? Is there anything else that Id have to change?
Thanks Guys!

yeap
'85 dist. with '85 ecm
that would be your saf bet
you could switch your '86 dist. to the '85 motor but the factory ignition curve is set up to it's particular head

I think the easier thing to do would be to switch the distributor and HEP on the 85 motor to the 86 style and run a boatload of advance to make up for the different head.
I did that for a while until I got a custom cal in there with no ill effect on economy or power.
i have to agree with Bender
OK guys the head is not that different!
Just keep all the '86 electronics, LM, dist., etc (they are better anyways) and put the '85 longlock in. You wont have any issues as long as you run premium gas on stock boost.
