I have a 92 SBEC which i want to get rid of. Only problem is, that i still haven't figured out how the speedo works.
The SBEC sends out 5V to the speed distance sensor, 8 times per rotation those 5V get pulled to ground. I thought that the speedo somehow interprets this frequency and displays a certain MPH/KPH, but without the SBEC the needle sits at 0 and doesn't move.
My guess is, that this SDS frequency is somehow translated in the SBEC and then sent to the instrument cluster - i just can't figure out through which pin of the SBEC connector.
PIN47 is 5V for the speed distance sensor and PIN41 ground, were's the "output" for the instrument cluster?
on my wiring diagram i just see that a wire is spliced between the gnd and the 5v of the sds ??? confusing.
someone has a clue??
