    Rebuild Question - GLH

    I own a 1986 GLH Turbo T1 (stock).

If I were to build up a 2.5 with .020 oversize, stock 2.5 crank, etc., would I have to make any modifications to my existing stock computers, sensors etc.

Or would it be adviseable to just bore .020 oversize from a 1988 Shelby Z with the 2.2 litre intercooled engine. I'd use the crank, rods, etc. from this same engine.

My plans are no more than 200 HP so I don't feel I need the common block and I want to keep the rebuild as simple (and cheap) as possible and keep the car T1 (I have no desire to intercool the car at this time)

Just build the 86 2.2 block. That is what I had in my Omni and am building for it now.

I don't want to take my car off the road for the time it will take to rebuild the motor that is in it now. If I already have a block to play with I can just swap it in and go in far less time.

Gotcha. The common block would be the easiest, because you could run your current logic module.
Some have had issues running the 2.5 on the 2.2 cal(usually running a 2.5 with a G-cyl head and 2.2 or 2.5 logic module). The 2.5 came stock with the swirl head(782 casting number).

If your reusing the log setup, I wouldn't bother going 2.5 but if your redoing it, might as well upgrade and run the blow thru setup, do some simple rewiring, a few wires, and run a chipped 87 LM, then the engine will work properly and you'll have gobs of power and torque at 12 psi.

    Re: Rebuild Question - GLH

I want to keep the rebuild as simple (and cheap) as possible, so I'll guess I'll just use the 88 block from the Daytona Shelby Z (along with the T2 rods and forged crank). Perhaps later I'll install a Stage 1 logic Module from FWD Performance ifI'm looking for some cheap HP.

I really have limited knowledge/resources and ability to modify the car myself without having to enlist the help of friends and family.....which pains me greatly!

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

    Then stick with the 2.2.
