Question How do I reduce boost to almost 0 with an external wastegate?

I want to keep my boost low due to winging it a few nights ago, without the controller, its at 12 psi, now if i took the seat out, would the heat damage anything or ?

What about retarding the timing at say 5 psi, and really drop it down, would that also work?

can't you adjust the spring tension in the gate?

Can't you disconnected one of the vacum lines to the external gate to get absolutel minimum boost pressure allowed by the sping? Maybe be even put a check valve in line so that once the gate opens, it stays open.

Its set for 12 psi no hose's or the boost controller hooked up, if I take out the spring, same as taking out the seat!!

You can reduce it to zero the same way as with an internal gate. Disconnect the line going from the turbo to the throttle body........the big 2 1/2" line. No guarantees on the trubo though.

Or pull the external wastegate off completly... You won't be able to go lower than your spring rating.

And turning the boost down to zero and still standing on the throttle is like doing your mom and somehow better?

What about a small air tank with regulated pressure to keep the gate open?

That would work but then wouldn't removing the seat do the same thing, but quicker and easier?

I do have a question... why is running only 12psi such a big problem?

I am having trouble with killing spark plugs, so i want to save my engine and turbo for a few weeks, even 12 psi is pushing it, lol. If I can stay out of boost, I can avoid any more damage for a few weeks.
