temp sensor location

I have an N/A head rebuilt with turbo valves. T-stat housing has 2 ports instead of 3 like the factory turbo head. iwant to put my temp sensor in the port on top of housing and use side port for turbo line. will this give an accurate temp reading? or do i need to drill and tap new port on the side. i have a pic but dont know how to put it on here.

Yes that will work. I added an autometer mechanical temp gauge and the probe was too long to fit in teh top (hit teh t-stat) so it went in the hole the OEM sensor went and I moved the OEM sensor up top where the plug is. Worked well, as always, just gotta make sure tis full of coolant.
