Clutch release / throw out bearing differences

As many of you might know, there are two different clutch release / throw out bearings available for the small input shaft 5-speeds. NAPA lists one as 'standard' and one as 'self-aligning'.

I have looked at both before side by side and totally forget which one works better and why. Anyone got the info?

Does it have something to do with the plastic sleeve on the inside? The original factory ones where steel, which slid on the aluminum. As the alumunim wore, they sometimes would bind-up. Later they made the inner sleeve out of plastic and a bit longer I think to keep it from ----ing. Perhaps that is the difference?
