16.8 aint bad. Years ago my brother in law ran his near stock(2.25 catback), low mile '83.5 SC down the 1/4. I believe his best was a 17.1 at 79mph. Shortly after he had to replace the clutch and cat, and still claims those were slowing him down.
Years before that I had a carbd GLH that with just a gutted airbox and 2.25'' exhaust ran 11.22 in the 1/8th mile(translates to a 17.4 1/4mile et). It had a faulty carb at the time and the secondary wasnt opening.
Ive since built a few hotter carb setups but never got around to running them. I imagine theyd have run 16 flats or better. The header will definately help!
A real cam would be nice too!

The cam is an 88 tbi roller.
The car has a full 2.25 inch exhaust.
I think with a few more runs I might have been able to get the et down to 16.6.

So how is the Turismo holding up?
Bummer!
Mine has become the daily driver I wanted it to be. 86'd the emissions as recommended by you, and got the weber working very well. Deleted the cat and air pump. Sounds pretty awesome now. Just have what I think is a failing alternator causing me ignition grief. Other than that the old rust bucket does pretty good.
As a consolation prize ScottD should offer up a thread on his Shadow. Following along on Facebook is hit and miss!
