    89+ solid rear disc setup

I'm looking for a complete 89+ solid rear disc setup and matching proportion valve. Thanks

I thought that the solid rear setups only came on the 87-88 cars? I'm probably wrong but every car I've taken apart had vented disc 89 and up.

All the way until 94/95 it was optional.

Hmmm.... Was that optional on all the body styles or everything but the G bodies? Like I said all of mine so far have been vented except for an 88 I had, but all of them were G bodies.

I would assume it was available on all car lines.

I've got a set with valve $160 with shipping. This weights like 50 lbs so shipping is up there. These are off a 91 R/t what's the difference on the pre 89?

Those are the larger vented setup.

I'm staying with a 14" wheel (so flame me now ) and the bigger vented setup will not clear the smaller wheels.

87-88 rear dics brakes (which are solid also) use the brake caliper and squeeze the brake pads down on the rotor. Total pita setup and stupid expensive to get parts for. All 89+ uses a conventional drum brake setup built into the rotor to function as the parking brake and the caliper as the regular service brake.

Ok ,I guess I've not seen the older setup, the ones I've had have all been drum e-brake.
The set I have is not vented, there solid disc. They look the same as what's on my 89, which has 14" rims. Are you running steel rims? Or alloy? I can try putting on a 14" rim if your interested.

Re: 89+ solid rear disc setup

14 inch rims will clear the solid rotor '89+ setup. the vented rotor uses a caliper with a wider gap and thus it hits most wheels, so you have to go to 15 inch. 89+ vented vs. non vented use the same brake pads, ebrake hardware, stub axles, caliper hose, brake line bracket, etc, etc, etc. the width of the calipers, backing plates and rotors are the only real difference. nice of mother mopar to use parts bin engineering for all us guys and gals. i have both types so i can tell you with absolute certainly what's what. oh...and the matching 11" fronts for the vented setup doesn't fit some of the earlier 15 inch rims, so a good idea to use the donor vehicle as a source of wheels too to ensure fit.
