    Question got a little leak

    now that it has been raining , i noticed that i have a leak in the trunk area . i pulled all the panels and found that the tail lights are the cause .does any one have an idea what i can use to seal that up or shouldigo hunting for new foam.aslo i have a seam on the taillight panel that dont look to have been sealed correcty or over time has fallen off and water is coming in there to ,any ideas what i can use to seal this up . thanks

    I'm going to guess that you have a shadow. If it were me I would caulk it or use rtv.

    remember you might wanna take it off again!

    check the "seam sealer" as well.

    ya sorry i thought i mentioned it was a shadow and i know i would have to take them off at one point.went out today and those two things are deffintly leaking (both taillights and the seam) ,just thought there just something that i could use to replace that foam thats on there all ready that you guys have worked with allready .i have to ck wally mart and a craft store for it a little better.

    foam tape window insulation?

    I have an '86 Daytona with the leaking rear tail light issue. I'm guessing they are designed about the same. I rtv'ed them back on. I can replace all the bulbs without removing the tail lights themselves so I figured I had no reason to take them back off. I made sure to check the foam pad was well attached to the lights too. In some places I rtv'ed the foam to the tail light assembly. I hope what I did works because this was the result of the leak:

    god sorry to see the rust andi dont want mine to get that far ,the car is rust free im gunna go tohome depot and wally mart tomorrow to see what i can find

    It rained here last night. I checked my trunk today and it was dry as a bone! It wasn't much of a rain so I'll wait for a real toad strangler before I say it is fixed.
