I just did a complete rebuild on my 85 shelby charger with quite a few mods. When I fired her up the timing belt immediately walked to the back of the cam gear, and i mean 1/4 of the belt hanging off the gear! So bad that it rubs the water pump bolts. Are all 2.2 belt tensioners the same? Is there supposed to be a spacer between the tensioner and the block? My car is at my folks house 3 hours away so i dont get much time to mess with it. I have rebuilt 2.5's and 2.2's before and never had this problem. I am sure I will figure it out, just curious if anyone has come across this before.
