Take a hammer and gently tap around it, it should set it off or advance your timing and go gently drive it, looking for knock retard.

Even when I don't have active knock retard I will still show a low knock voltage on my 4000e will driving and getting on the throttle a bit. If it is flat-lined a zero and never does anything but zero I would suspect a problem.
So theres no fault that set if theres no activity?
Every one I've seen on a scan tool shown more than 0v while running.
0.04V is a common voltage. I'd bet one showing 0 at all times is faulty and potentially dangerous. There is no monitor on that sensor.
