Maximum Cam lift with hydraulic lash adjusters.

    Title says it...

What is the maximum camshaft lift without lifter bleed down? I know it has been discussed before but can't seem to find the info.

I know several have tried higher lift units with mixed results. I'm thinking aside from proper tune this might be why...and why stock cams seem to do so well...and why several have moved onward to solid adjusters to solve this issue.

...yes, it's time for me to pick a cam

P.S. Like them or hate them I'm running 2.4 adjusters...worked well for me so far and I'm thinking they will be more resillient to collapse.

I don't know about the 2.4 lifters, but I know there are a decent amount of guys running high lift cams with hydraulic lifters with great success using the Comp Cam #926 springs. I don't have any personal experience and I know you are looking for a magic max lift number, but from the knowledgeable people that I've spoken with, the springs are a huge factor. I have them sitting in my 8v head, but haven't ran it yet...

Here's a thread with some good info in it too, that I just found.

Yup, got the same springs. I ran them in my car at Spring Fling. When I replaced my stock springs (w/stock 88 roller) my boost went up 3 psi. I can't say for sure I had valve float but I don't know what else to attribute it too.

Anyway...my new head has the other 8 springs and retainers I didn't use. I'm thinking the valvetrain can handle whatever I want but am skepticle concerning cam lift and lash adjuster bleed down. I'll check the link out...thanks!

When old Matchbox had a 2.2 I used a Lambros "500" lift hydralic cam with the stock springs! That cam is actually only a 495 lift. I had no problems with that set up for many years. Car was a carb car.
