    windsheild trim question

OK, so back in the spring while at a track day I lost the upper windsheild molding from my '88 Shelby Z on the front straight at about 115-120mph. Unfortunatly the piece was lost. Now, having parted a few of these cars I *thought* I had at least 1 spare, but I don't.

After inspecting how the trim is held on I found it's much like the older cars of the 60's and 70's with little nubs sticking out of the body and plastic clips slide on to those that capture spring loaded prongs on the back of the trim part.

I personally don't like it, and I think the newer style trim looks a lot better, not to mention it is aerodynamically better.

So, my question is, can the newer style windsheild trim be adapted for use on the older cars(or vise vera...the car be adapted to use the newer trim)? If so, how? I have a few ideas, but body stuff is not my strong point! LOL

I called a windshield place near me before I was going to have mine replaced, and they said new windshields get all new clips and mouldings. I was worried because I bent a few of them, they told me new ones are rubber, like new cars get.
