    Re: 2.2 crank Common block

I have standard 89 T2 crank. I took it to the shop to have it turned and he called and told me it speced out. He told me they would turn it if I wanted it,but said the dirt scratches would probably polish out. I need to go get it. I would be interested in a straight up trade. I need a 2.5 crank. This 89 T2 crank came without the balance shaft sprocket, because it did not come with B shafts.
Let me know if you are interested.
    Thanks

Very interested. I still havnt gotten this crank out of the block yet so I dont know what exactly if any reconditioning it would need. Pretty sure it could stay stock and just give it a light polish to freshen up the surfaces.

Ok some pictures. #1 rod bearing surface has a very defined scratch all the way around it. barely catches your fingernail. Dont know if it would require going 10 under or not. Darker colored circle markings on #1,2,4,5 maiin bearings is where the oil groove in the bearing was.

    Edit
(The seal surface isnt grooved. thats varnish/crud that I havnt removed yet)

Most likely junk in the oil went thru or Dodge left some crud in there, got stuck in the bearing and cut the crank.

#1 crank journal is ok and since the oil had to go through it first to get there. I think it was crud leftover from assembly. Theres other things i'm finding inside this engine that dont show the greatest attention to detail.

Depending on what kind of motor you are modding...i would get it turned 10/10 if its still stock and you plan on putting power to it....maybe even polished up...i just paided 140 for a 10/10 cut for mine....not bad for assurance that its round..

    Re: 2.2 crank Common block

I dont plan on using that crank for anything. It is still stock size for now and if someone who wants to buy it wants it checked out I can take it to a machine shop and have them look it over but the price goes up with that...

I think a polishing could take the scratches out but i'm making no guarantee. a 10/10 grinding for certain would fix everything but I'm also of the 'more is better' thought and dont want to cut more metal off now if its not necessary. So if something happend down the road then you wouldnt be at the maximum allowable undersizing already.

And also a BUMP for a 2.2 CB crank.
