    Lifter Height

    All,

I picked up some 2.4 lifters and some washers from Fastenal. Before I take things a part I wanted to be sure about my shim heights are correct. Can someone give me the height of the stocker.

I have .125 shims now but I read that the newer 2.4's from Mopar are a different length now since the FAQ came out?

    Thanks,
    Marion

Measure an 8 valve lifter, then subtract your 2.4 lifter and compare,

Thanks but the old ones are in the engine still. I want to compare before I disassmble so I can make sure I'm good or if I need to return to Fastenal so my stuff won't be apart all weekend etc....I have the .125 washers currently. I bet you have a bucket full of them over there.

Doesn't EVERYONE have spare 8 valve lifters,

I'll go measure one in a bit.

    Re: Lifter Height

you can't just measure them, there's no top on the PT lifter to measure too since there's a big hole cut into the top. 1/8" tall is close enough. Think our 1st round was like .120 so you're close enough. The diameter has to be .602 IIRC or they won't fit in the holes. Then you don't want them much smaller than that.

That sounds about what I got. I think I was in the 0.124 range. Close enough.

I made sure to grind down the outside of the shims so they would easily drop into the lifter bores in the head. Plenty of clearance on mine.
