    SMEC SCI connector questions

I have a USB to ttl cable that when i hok it to my 87 GLHS it works great. but When i hook it to the SCI on my 88 CSX-T and it is like there is no connection the RX and TX lights don't even flash
Are the connections different? Or I have heard of "bootstrapping" IDK if this is needed so they can communicate?
I understand the computer programs are different between the two but on the SMEC i get no output at all with this cable but i do with my OTC

    ANY IDEAS?

    Thanks
    Matt

You don't need to bootstrap the smec. You only do that when you want it to run a program other than what's on the prom. You're sure you have the correct pins on the smec? Should be green and pink wires going to the connector, I believe.

It's in the KC article (although I didn't make it a link), but here it is:

This is the cable I have. It uses the same chip that I'm building into the USB-SCI cables...

    Re: SMEC SCI connector questions

It's been a while since I used it. It worked with SMECLogger, but not D-Cal. So, I put it on the shelf and used a serial converter.

I still need to hook it up on my bench and see if I can flash a SMEC with your program...
