front crank shaft seal too big?

Is the front crank seal the supposed to be the same size as the intermediate shaft seal? I bought one( says front cam/crankshaft seal on the box) and it is way to big for my crank seal housing but fits right into the intermediate seal housing. What am I missing here?

Depends on what year ya got. Later model 2.2,2.5 have a smaller seal for the crank. Earlier were same as int shaft and cam
