This was probably the best racing weekend I've ever had! I'll edit this post with more info as I get time. I have to go to Columbus today to fix a machine. Something about driving through Columbus and then the next day I have to go back to Columbus to work!

Re: 2009 Chrysler World Finals at Norwalk Raceway

What a weekend! I say f the nats, I'm spending my money at the 2010 Chrysler World Finals at Norwalk Raceway!

1, we couldn't have asked for better weather!

2, the best track I've ever been on! Smooth as a baby's behind and also extremely sticky! You can smell the VHT on your car when you get back to the pits!

3, the best facilities I've ever seen! They even announced that they have a million bucks in just the restrooms and showers! (because somebody pee'd in the pits on the concrete and I guess got caught).

4, super nice people! Couldn't have asked for a better crowd! (except for the one dude with his "blue 63" that gave me and Rob some sh!t. Good thing I took him out in the 10.0 shootout!)

5, camping AT the track is the best! Plus they have 'quiet' time so you can get good sleep!

6, they play wake up music in the morning on the PA to get you ready for RACING! Pretty cool!

7, We had a great grassroots pit area! Rob and his wife picked a great spot!

8, Killer FWD turnout for the car show! Just amazing! Not even CLOSE to what you would see at the nats!

I could keep going, but I got to get up at working man hours tomorrow. JT, Jon, and ALL the others that normally go to the nats....THIS IS YOUR EVENT!!! Dead serious! I'm going to start ASAP getting my car ready for the 10 dot O shootout next year!

Re: 2009 Chrysler World Finals at Norwalk Raceway

Well, it was really an embarassing run....but for both of us, and I still got the win!

Like I said, the track was super sticky. I've never had my car bog on the line that bad. That being said, I had the launch rev limiter between 5600 and 5700 rpm, dumped the clutch to get a good light on the pro tree and BLUH! It fell to 2100 rpm! So I double clutched (like I should) to get the r's back up, then missed 2nd (which is a new problem, I missed it 3 times this past weekend). Good thing is, the "blue 63" bogged worse than me! Once I got it in 2nd, the car just RIPPPED down the track. Hooked like a mother and felt like the k-frame was going to take off without me. Past the blue 63 for the win with 2 embarassing et's. I ran like a 12.2 or something and the blue 63 ran a 12.5 or so.

Re: 2009 Chrysler World Finals at Norwalk Raceway

Oh, I guess you may want to hear the story of the sh!t we received from him.

All the 10-O cars were called up to the beginning of the staging lanes for pairing up for the eliminations.

Rob got there just ahead of me and got out. I saw a track official come up to him, say some words, then Rob walked off. I went up to Rob and asked what was said. Rob said that the track official said "This class is the 10-O class..." Rob said "Yeah, that's why I'm up here!" The track official said "What's that thing run, like 13's or something?" Rob then walked off. LOL!!!

Rob got the bye run and pulled on up. I was still waiting to be paired when this big grizzley dude came up and said "You're running the blue 63!" I said, "Which one?" (there was about 4 blue cars all lined up against the fence) He said "THE BLUE 63, I'M RUNNING AGAINST YOU IN THIS RACE....DO YOU COMPREHEND?" I then walked to my car, hopped in, and prayed that I was going to kill this guy down the track. We pair up and pull around to the staging lanes. Looked like we had some time to kill, so we all got out. Rob had to pull in a different lane since there were multiple bye runs. The grizzley guy says to us "Hey, is that your buddy in that other omni?" Katie says, "It's a CHARGER, but yeah, we know him!" Grizzley dude says "Well he's in the wrong lane! He's got a bye run. A bye run means that he automatically wins and comes back up here!" Mom Reeves says "No sh!t sherlock!" and walks off. Now I'm really praying I beat this guy. Seems like a local prick that knows it ALL! And knew most of the people around him.

Rob was in the correct lane BTW. Track official told him to go to that lane.

I wish I knew where that guy was pitted.....would have love to hear the conversations after the OMNI beat him!

Re: 2009 Chrysler World Finals at Norwalk Raceway

Just a word about the VHT crew there.
Back in the mid 90's I had a 5.0 Mustang that ran 14.00 all night long,
I got to the track early on a Wed. afternoon and went to the staging lanes.
I was the first car that ran down the track, 14.40.
    I was like WTF!
The whole was down the track you could hear the tires sticking to the track.
Waited an hour and back to the 14.00's.
    That's sticky.

about 20 minutes of driving around the pits was all i had time for to break in the newly rebuilt engine. first pass of the day i go to do a burnout, I hit the nitrous to purg and to start the burnout. the tires start spinning then it was like i had no power to keep it going . got a 1.724 60' and ran a 10.60 @ 132.65 the car felt flat after 6500 rpm my mph was way off. i should be doing a 138+. never did figure it out other then that it ran great. I made 8 passes.

    Thanks guys

there are 4 chrysler classics a year and i'm going to make it to every one of
of them next year. the 10.0 is a very tough class. the sweet thing about it is it's heads up and there's a chance a fwd can win on there terms. some of the V8 guys just hate fwd so I expect some $h!t which makes it all that more fun

That should make for some great kill stories! You guy's cars both look fairly stock to the unsuspecting gearhead too.

That run was fun to watch! I'll bet the guy in the 17 sec pickup thought he was going to beat you. Car sounded sweet going down the track.
