    FS 89 Sundance RS

Time to make some room. I bought this as a project a few years ago and now with the two Lancers I just bought that gives me 2 in the garage and 4 in the driveway. Something has to go.

    89 Plymouth Sundance RS
    2.5 Turbo Automatic

I know the spare tire well has bad rust. Normal bad paint, not as bad as it looks. (I was cutting cast stone in the garage and a lot of dust got on car that I haven't cleaned off) Engine has a knock. Previous owner said they had driven it about a year with knock but it doesn't sound good. Ran and drove when parked but haven't had it out for a long time.

    Now the good.

Would make a cheap project for someone. Most body panels are very straight. Interior is almost perfect. Has some sort of nice alloy's but I don't think they are original. Did I say the interior is almost perfect. (spots on drivers seat are just dust)

Need to get $300 for it or it goes by the pound. I'm really not interested in parting.

I'll need to take a look tomorrow but I think the body is pretty good. I'll need to look under the car and let you know but I don't remember it being bad at all. I'll try to get some pictures.

In addition to the spare tire well it looks like there is some rust on the right front floorboard. I doesn't look all that bad though. Overall I'd say the undercarriage is very good.

There is no rust on the body except the surface rust on roof where paint is bad and minor surface rust on hood.

The body appears excellent with the only dent being a small door ding on the right rear door and a very small dent on hatch. Both can be seen in the pictures.

Here is the pic's of the tires. The right side are a little blurry but they are as good as the left side. These tires are like new. I can't even get my fingers to the bottom of the tread.

It wouldn't solve my problem with needing space but I might consider a trade.

I'm redoing an 87 Shelby Lancer and a 89 Lancer Shelby and may need some parts. What do you have to trade?

A Rampage in similar condition might get my attention.

    No interest in whole car?

May consider trade for Rampage or Charger in similar condition. Might be convinced to part if enough interest.

Really hate to salvage this car but need to make room to start full tear down and resto/mod on 89 Lancer Shelby.

If they drove that car for a year with the knock, it might only be a cracked flexplate...I bought a van like that once.

Swore it had a spun rod bearing, sounded exactly like one. But was pleasantly surprised to find the flexplate broke around all the bolt holes...pretty cheap fix.

Remove the inspection cover and take a look.

Might be worth a look. It does sound exactly like a rod bearing. I would have never thought to look for a broken flexplate.

If I hadn't seen the broken flexplate with my own eyes, I would have bet money it was a rod bearing. Luckily someone else told me to check it out.

But I'd have a hard time believing they drove a whole year with a bearing going out...unless the car is a total POS and you can confirm it was neglected or ran out of oil or something, I would check the flexplate first.

Oh there is interest here. Just that whole transporting thing that I'm hitting a wall with.
