The many itenerations of the Dodge Shadow

This car has seen many forms over the years. It all started around 2002-ish, when i picked up a '94 Shadow 3.0L V6 autotragic for my first car.

Then riced it out pretty badly. LOL. Many of you have seen this car. If not here's it's cardomain page...
    http://www.cardomain.com/ride/229772

That car was stripped down and scrapped. I found a VERY clean (rust free!!)shell of a 1992 Shadow that will now take on where this car left off. It's a 2-door also, which i was looking for.

More "starting point pics" Paint peel galore! The rust starting is all surface, so the car is going to be stripped down to metal and resprayed. The primer is said to be the culprit, so really I have no choice but to strip all the paint and primer off. It will be resprayed the same color. (Bonzai Blue Metallic)

All the nastily painted exterior and interior pieces will be replaced.

Re: The many itenerations of the Dodge Shadow

Oh, I have Koni struts and shocks with Eibach springs for the suspension.
And here's the rear axle with the rear disc vented brake setup from a Shelby Dayona.

Here's a photo of the STS

And here's a Photoshop "Toon" rendering I did of what I'd like this car to look like when done. Of course, the carbon fiber hood probably will never be since it would cost me WAY to much to have a one-off one made. But I can always hope.

The wheels are FN01R-C's in the 'Toon. I really like those.

Pics of the "stripping down" process...

Good thing it has flowmasters. ha

The car was dropped off at S&S stripping off of mound road, i think that's still Warren, MI. not sure. I'm really enjoying seeing the car this clean. its amazing!

What was funny was after the car was unloaded, the wheel fell off of it as it was being pushed into the garage! the wheel breaing seperated! since the car is so light, it only teetered. LOL

    here's some pics!

    and the wheel bearing failure:

the rear suspension is back in the car. It's almost a roller again! Woohoo!!

    Yep, it has KONI's, too.

thought I'd toss up a photo of the engine that's going in the shadow. Finially found one for a decent price.

it's out of a 2004 PT cruiser GT.

Here's some pics showing the test fit of the rear EVO seats.

    rust bullet-ed shell

REALLY bad photo of the EVO recaros

front suspension back on! (Koni's, new ball joints, poly bushings, and powdercoated control arms, knuckles and such)

it's a slow process... espically when your daily driver is a certain diamond-star product that also likes a share of your resources.

but thanks! I figued since it needed repainted.. mind's well "do it right." but that was quite a bit of work.

Re: The many itenerations of the Dodge Shadow

    Nice job so far!

Do you do all of your own work?

Also, the wheel bearing failure... was that due to you rolling the chasis around w/out the axles bolted in? I am told the bearings need the axle stubs torqued to hod everything together, otherwise it will ruin them.

I need to start my project blog so as to get my azz in gear again and start working on it!

I would assume the wheel bearing failure wouls be that too. Glad I left the axle ends in my GLH

From an old R/T I robbed the drivetrain out of at a local JY, I kept the stub axle parts, cleaned them up, and use them in my current project which unfortunately... is just sitting. (but they are torqued up though!)

Learn something new everyday here. I thought our cars used roller bearings in the front hubs, not ball bearings.

Re: The many itenerations of the Dodge Shadow

That's looking sweet MB. As you found the bearings will fall apart without the axels. Like Dirrectconnection, I kept a stub kicking around and I would torque it up to the bearing periodically to keep them tight. If you have two stubs like he does then the best is to just leave them in. The only question I have is why the hell would you put a 2.4 into a Shadow?

..seems to have been addressed in the last pic. Learning is good!

Re: The many itenerations of the Dodge Shadow

yea, well, i got new wheel bearings anyways. those were just in there to get the car to and from the stripping place.

and dj: i'm putting the 2.4 in my car because that's what all the cool kids do and i want to be cool.
