After a few different designs I came up with my prototype of how Im doing a leather shifter boot. This gets rid of the rubber acording looking thing.
First off, here is the stock one for comparison. Its outdating looking, and sits about 3 inches below the revers lockout ring, leaving an awkward space there.
I made a aluminum frame first, and riveted it together. This holds the boot in place and allows it to be installed with the factory nuts that hold on the rubber boot.
The Top 2 inches of the boot are attached with velcro so that the boot can be split at the top and slid over the reverse lock out ring, and most likely the shifter so you dont even have to take it off.
If there is enough interest, I will be making a batch of these. Price should come in around $30-35 plus around $5 if you want it shipped. That may seem high, but there is more work than it looks to put one of these together, and the price of leather is not what you would call cheap.
