I think I went to that show for 4 years in the late 90's and I think 2000 was my last time, not sure. It is a nice show though. About 1997 or 98, a bunch of us from the Detroit area went. We hung around after the show to take some pics of the group. One of our guys, Mike Stimac I think, happened to see the roads in the back part of the area where it's hilly and we all went for a short "road course" type drive. The Gilmore guys in their pickup trucks were suspicious of us and came over to see what we were doing. As we left the area and drove past them, a few of them gave us big smiles and thumbs up. It was a cool deal.

    86 Shelby Lancer Prototype #EXP1

I remember that car, I think you had it in the show right? I had my lancer (#210) there the same year. It is for sale now, I have too much stuff. Are you gonna go this year? If so I would like to put a face with some of the people on here.

Yeah, that one's mine, I still have it, no engine in it currently.

Not going to make it there this year. I got no time anymore. If sometime in the future a bunch of the Great Lakes Chapter guys get together and decide to go there for the weekend, I will probably join them.

    Got this interesting email...

MOPARS at the RED BARNS to be Featured on Popular TV Series

    Hickory Corners, MI

Each summer, a production crew from the popular SPEED Channel television series My Classic Car barnstorms across the nation seeking to capture America’s love affair with the automobile. That’s exactly what they expect to find when they visit the 21st annual MOPARS at the RED BARNS event this Saturday, July 25th at the Gilmore Car Museum.

Series host Dennis Gage, known for his trademark handlebar moustache and boundless enthusiasm for all things automotive will be attending the event and filming for a 2010 episode.

The very popular MOPARS at the RED BARNS car show and swap meet is open to the public this Saturday, from 9am to 4pm. With hundreds of Chrysler-powered vehicles of all eras, including muscle cars, antiques, street rods, and trucks, this event promises to be the largest gathering of its kind in the state as it fills the show fields at the Gilmore Car Museum.

The event also includes collector cars for sale, a parts swap meet, and a judged model car show—always a highlight of the meet—that awards trophies for the best small scale re-creations.

MOPARS at the RED BARNS, sponsored by the Western Michigan Mopar Club, was selected from literally thousands of car shows nationwide for inclusion in an upcoming episode of My Classic Car. Now filming for its 14th season, the series always has something for everyone. From showcasing daily-drivers to million dollar Duesenberg's, from local cruise-ins to the most prestigious car shows and collections in the world, this TV program covers it all. Jay Leno, former host of TV’s The Tonight Show and a renowned car collector, has often been a featured guest.

Whether your “dream machine” is a Plymouth Barracuda or Dodge Charger, a vintage DeSoto or Imperial, you’re sure to find it at this show. The Gilmore Car Museum’s collection of nearly 200 antique, classic, and collector cars, as well as their special exhibit, “History – ¼ Mile At A Time,” will be open at no extra charge during the Saturday Mopar show.

Special Museum admission for the day is $8.00, with those under 11 admitted FREE, and includes both the car show and all the exhibit buildings. The Gilmore Car Museum, is located midway between Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Battle Creek, on M-43 and Hickory Road, north of Richland.

To learn more about the Gilmore Car Museum visit:

    Thanks

    Jay

My dad is a member of the West Michigan Mopars club, that puts the show on and he will be working with Dennis Gage as his host while he is at the show.
He is pretty excited about it.
