    Boxing in lower control arms

Any real need to box in or strengthen '89 dual pivot lower control arms? Some autocross, mainly street use. Seem OK as is.

I dunno about the lower control arms, but I know people box in, or replace with an adjustable unit, the rear trackbar.

Alan did this with some minivan arms which come gusseted from the factory. You may want to search for his post about it to check out some pics. I would think it would help, especially in an L body.

I don't think L bodies come with the dual pivot control arms, but I could be wrong.
I can't find a post about boxing in the control arms. Must be buried....I've looked through a few hundred posts already.

The minivans came with stub strut arms back when too.

    Here is the thread.

Uh, those arms in that writeup aren't from a mini van.
"So I sourced a lightly used stocker from a J Yard 89/90 Omni and degreased and cleaned it for an hour at least."
I would really be surprised to see the stub style arms being used on a mini van, but Mopar has done some odd things over the years!

OK, so I didn't realize that he started out with different arms. It doesn't change the fact that the vans came with the gusseted arms which will work on an L body K frame. Perhaps it was Simon who welded some of those up?

Vans up to 1990 were stub strut stamped arms that had extra bracing in them. They never got the 89/90 dual pivot stamped setup the cars got (too bad cause they probably would of been braced). In 91 they went straight to the cast arms the cars got.

This info is all well and good, but my original question was about the dual pivot control arms, not the L body stub arms.

Thanks! Think I will. I appreciate the input.
I was curious if anyone else had actually done that to these particular arms and had some pics to guide me in the proper direction.
