I just picked up my new ride, an 88 daytona TII. The PO installed 804 injectors, 3 in exhaust with no cat/muffler, mopar computer and a map clamp. My question is what is a map clamp and how does it work. When I drive the car at WOT the boost guage will not rise above 5psi. It also has a BOV. It just doesn't feel like it's getting full boost, but you can definitly here the turbo spool up? Any thoughts?
Have you checked all the hoses for the intercooler to make sure there isn't a leak? How is the boost regulated (manually or computer controlled?) Map clamp just changes the voltage that the map sensor sends to the ecu. Making the ecu think that your running less boost than you are. Check the hoses and vacuum lines and start from there.
Have have not checked all the hoses but I will. I belive the boost is controlled from computer, but it has this map clamp and I'm not sure what it does. You said changes voltage, but it only has a vaccume line runnint to it with I belive a check valve, no wires?
It sounds like you have a cut out raiser instead of a map clamp. Look at the Dodge Garage and look under the turbo database and then map sensor modifications #17 this should help you figure out what you have going on with your car.
