Simon, some more work and you may have a 2.5 that peaks at 6500rpm or so. Good job!

Yes, I know. I know have no knock with the TPS fixed but its now a bit lean, maybe because its alot colder outside.

Brian, this isn't a regular cat, its tiny and flows like a sewer pipe,
I put it on and listened to it at idle and revved up, no change in the exhaust note, on, off, on, off, no change,

It's not a catco, not even close to yours. Now I would venture to say the rest of my exhaust is costing me that or more but for now, I am leaving it alone.

    Thanks,
Yep, I had a "bullit muffler... SO your 5hp # for exhaust flow is wrong... BTW... Doubt your cat is less restrictive than the catco..

    We know,

I forgot to update, my cat was plugged solid on this dyno run, doh!

Also, engine was soooooooo tired, it would fill up the catch can at the track and at least once a week,

Re: So what are you Guys reving your 2.5L's to?

Not too much on topic there, since he specificially states that both engines were 16 valves. I knew something was wrong when I looked at the dyno chart. With the exact same top end on a 2.5 (on an 8 valve) it will not make as much HP as a 2.2 and certainly won't rev as high.
This only further proves my point. The 8 valve heads are restrictive enough as it is...pumping more intake and exhaust through because of larger displacement only hurts more. For an 8 valve, 2.2 FTW. For a 16 valve hybrid, 2.5 is fine but personally I'd still rather have a 2.2 anyway. The results speak for themselves-

Look at the majority of the peope in the 10 second bracket, not counting the 2.4's it's mostly 2.2's. And the only one in the 9's? 2.2. How can you honestly argue with that? 7 out of 10 people in the 10's are running 2.2, and 7/10 in the 11's are running 2.2's.

Re: So what are you Guys reving your 2.5L's to?

For comparison, old Matchbox is using a stock block 2.5 with no bal sfts. A lot of last year I was using test and tunes to find the best shift pts for the best or most consistant ets. This still has the stock roller 410 lift cam too. Keep in mind that this is using a non feedback carb and stock 2.5 efi header. For the quickest ets I shifted at 5000 from 1-2 and 4800 at 2-3. For the most consistancy I shifted at 4850!!!

    05 Mustang V6 / wifes / 15.17 @ 92 BONE stock
    96 Geo Metro / 3 cyl - 1 ltr - 55 hp / 19.84 @ 66
84 Horizon / used to run 13's no power adders

Not sure what your saying Matt, the argument was all 2.5's, not 8 valve and Larry's engine makes more power 2.5 than 2.2.
