Check out my 3" side exit...

Well after days of measuring and fabricating, i finally got everything welded up tonite. Check out the link for pics cuz i cant post attachments.

Its a 3" DP to a Magnaflow High-Flow Cat (thanks racing solutions) to a Dynomax race bullit. The system ends with a 2.25"x8" rectangle exhaust tip off a Z28 Camaro. The tip fits perfectly in front of the rear tire.

I am putting it on the car Wed, weather permitting. I will get pics of it installed ASAP.

Is that really how much room there is from the end of the cat to the first 90* bend or can that be made more? I was thinking of using at least a 24" glasspack, if not longer. From the looks of this pic, I don't think anything longer would fit..

BTW: Where did you find that Camaro tip? Junk Yard? I may just be doing the same thing. That is too cool, next to the other one posted above

Yup, the exhaust runs right through all the stock tunnels there. That 90* bend was cut off the old cat-back system i had, and is in the same spot. I think that there was 37" of room between the DP and 90* (not 100% possitive on that # though, could be less), but it doesnt look like you will fit a 24" glass pack and a cat...i think my cat is like 16". You could cut the DP a little, i think there is about 6 inches of straight flat pipe, and move the cat up.

As for the tips, i joined a LS1 forum and posted a wanted add for them...those guys all upgrade their exhaust, so i figured they had the stock tips sitting around..i got 2 of them for $35.

I can make the 1 catback system as seen there(no muffler, just pipes) for $100 if anyones interested. Or just make the tip fit good onto a 12" long 3" pipe for $60. I have the extra 3" pipes and tip sitting around, so let me know.

Very nice Turbomopar87. I have a 3" pipe side exit now and it is hitting the ground a lot and closing off. I need to get one of these as well. I would like to see it on your car. Can you post a pic?

Re: Check out my 3" side exit...

Heres the pics of the intall...sits ok for now, i gotta get it on a lift to get the hangers set up better. The claps are the only thing that hang too low, but i plan on welding the brakets on so the clamps will be eliminated soon.

The tip sits on that slight angle, which i am going to fix when i get the hangers settled

man does it sound great, and i definatly am going to get a sound clip soon.

Here's mine on an Omni. It's only 2.5" but should flow good, and be relatively quiet. That's a Dunomax in there.
