Better Brake Pads for an '86 Daytona

I would like a better brake pad for my 1986 Daytona. I am currently using Duralast brand pads. They are very dusty and I don't like their grippyness.

    Any suggestions?

Sure with EBC made a pad that fit.

what type of pad are you looking for? if you have the 10.25 front discs like my P-body, i got some ceramics from advance auto parts for about $50something. Plus carbotech i believe makes a number of different compounds for our cars, but they are mostly hi-perf/racing pads.... Ive had decent luck with Advance's Wearever Gold pads for average driving, but the ceramics i have now have not worn down much, have no fade and grab pretty darn well

Ceramics, Hawk if they make them, I believe FWD carries them.

They are only 10" or so rotors. I'm not exactly sure.

This is the rotor I am using.

    And these are the pads

I don't think Hawk makes one for my car.

I am thinking about these pads at Summit.

    Thoughts?

I think they would be pretty good as well. But the ship date isn't until the end of this month. Plus, there are apparently two different kinds of calipers used. According to the AutoZone site (FWIW), cars with 15" rims received these pads that go with the associated caliper. An '86 CS has 15" rims but it has the the other caliper for the 14" rim or at least mine does. From their info, it is impossible to tell what caliper those pads at Summit are for. Why can't this just work? Guess I need to call them.

Looks like the Power Stop pads are for the Kelsey Hays caliper. I have a Teves according to Napa.

I wonder if I can just bolt up the KH caliper. Looks like it uses a much wider pad and that would give more surface are and better braking, right?

one thing about ceramics.....expect your rotors to warp...
they don't work worth a crap cold (feel like drums)...so, you have to get them hot...which, if going through a puddle or something of that nature...warpage....lol

Just thought Id throw that out there.

About the only thing I can find that will fit my car are semi-metallics anyway.

Just looking through the book and the Teves (or ATE according to my book) is a 2 pin caliper and the KH is a 1 pin. I would think the 2 pin would be the better design??

Go to www.porterfield-brakes.com and call them. Get the R4S pad. They aren't listed, but they have them. Great pad for the money.
