    TIII Clutch replacement

Thinking about trying to do mine while it is down waiting for a radiator... I found this post:

    http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3480

But is there any TIII specific things that are different? Like the equal length drive shafts with the center joint?

Any tips or tricks? I will be doing this outside in my driveway with jack stands and a 3 ton floor jack...should I even try?

    Thanks.

How about resurfacing the flywheel? TIII's have a taper to them right? Will a place that resurfaces them do it right? Anyone just skip the resurfacing?

never had any problems having them resurfaced by any shop local that did machine work. only thing diff is the cut outs in the edge that the crank sensor reads

get the flywheel re-surfaced, any machine shop can do it...nothing special. Take out the crank sensor. Getting the trans down will require some twisting, pulling....should be fun, might need a helper.

That write up is pretty good but I'd recommend dropping the K member. It doesn't add that much to the job and it will make getting it back in a lot easier, especially if you are doing it yourself. You will need to remove 4 15 mm bolts on the rack and tie it to the firewall. Then there is 2 bolts and 2 nuts to drop it. I think they are 18 mm. Place a jack under it to let it down and drag it out.

    Re: TIII Clutch replacement

leave the axle extension off of the trans till the last minute. leave the bolts on the diff cover on that side a little loose so it'll go in once the trans is in place. that little extension really gets in the way while trying to get the trans back up off the ground and in place. i just had to drop and put a trans in because of an axle that smacked a hole in my trans case. that little extension is a pain.
