This is kind of an unsual "help!" request, but I am trying to purchase a Turbo Dodge in Canada. I bought the car on ebay. I live in ROchester, NY and its only about a 2 hour trip to get the car across the border. I contacted US customs and they said it is a simple process of getting a letter from the manufacturer stating that the vehicle meets all federal safety and emissions standards for the model year. I simply present the letter to border patrol and they pass me through.
Awesome!.......nope, not with &**!! CHrysler!!!!! I called the recommended customer support line and they flat out REFUSED to give me such a letter.......in order to "promote buying CHrysler vehicles from dealerships in the country". I must have talked to 5 different people and all they can do is respond in their minimum wage earning, monotone, programmed response....."sorry sir, this is the company policy".
I called the EPA to ask them if there was another way to do this and the guy I talked to (very nice guy) told me that Chrysler is the ONLY manufacturer who denies these requests.....and that I am pretty much screwed.
Anyone have any pull with Chrysler? Anyone willing to help a fellow TD'er out with that pull? ANyone ever done this before? ANyone live near Chrysler customer support and want to punch someone? I really want to buy this car and it so close....yet so far away
