    I got this off E-bay for $100.
it came with cartridges and adaptors for Domestic Vehicles (Chrysler/GM/Ford) up to 1997.

Fernando, your '89 you can pull the codes using the ignition key, cycle it on-off-on-off-on then count the flashes of the Check Engine Light

The Snap-On MT2500 with the trouble shooter cartridge is a good scanner. A bit more than the rest but worth it. Their going cheap these day. I bought mine 4 yrs ago off the truck for $866. with tax used. I've seen them on E Bay for $500.

That's true. The OTC scanners can monitor knock and some other cool things which make them worth it if you can pick one up for cheap though.

I got a OTC4000e with the '92 (and down) and the '93 cartridge, all the necessary cables, and some other stuff too for around a hundred. I can't remember exactly now.

I've used it on my '86 Daytona. A buddies '92 Daytona (with a '90 computer -- the OTC actually helped us to figure out it was the wrong computer -- that and the part number on the computer) and my ole' man's Buick (bad O2 and cam sensor). It hasn't paid for itself yet but I believe it was a good investment. It reads codes from '79 to '93.
