I just had my Koni's machined so that the mount fits on top of the shaft correctly, went to the yard and pulled some old strut assemblies to modify. hopefully i have the time to work on them this weekend. Pictures will be taken

Finally got around to playin with my new toys....
Grabbed 2 junk yard struts from a shadow and cut the tube about 1/2inch or so from the cap for the struts contents
I drilled a small hole in the bottom to drain the fluid, once it was drained i used a "stepper" bit until the hole was big enough for the bolt, the KONI tube comes with a nut welded to the bottom so it can be fastened to the bottom of the strut housing
Note: no modifications needed here!
I had a machinest friend place my struts in a lathe type setup to turn down the shaft a bit to get the full thread engagement when the top mount is installed.
Plenty of thread for the nut
hopefully installing the springs shortly and at the same time slapping these puppies on the car, Along with a proper alignment
i wanna add, when placing the koni's into the strut it's a tight fit - "hammer time" just be careful not to hit the shaft by pushing it down as far as you can without going below the seal (since you machine the shaft down)
That is friggin AWESOME news! Can you post the Koni PN for those inserts? That would be helpful!
YAY!!! Koni's for TD's thanks to Subi's WWOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!

I want to install these on the car before I call it a success, give me at least a week to get everything done and the koni adjustment figured out
inserts for a srt-4 or pt cruiser are about 40$ cheaper a piece and may also work. MAY being the key word. Ill compare some stuff i have laying around.
congrats on this awesome development!
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
I'd be interested in seeing if any of the 8611 double adjustable units can be made to work! THAT'S what *I* want!!
Not a problem!

F'N SWEET!!!
Just wanted to leave an update, Struts are doing great! i'm so happy everything worked out. Got my alignment done, set the front camber angle to -1.2 degrees and the tires appear to be wearing evenly, this may be due to the fact that i take almost every turn at 60mph +, LOL
Awsome. You should have had your donor strut housings painted red and got a repo koni decal slapped on them
also i compared some neon struts and k-car struts and it looks like diameter wise the 2g neon koni inserts would work.
Congrats on your mod!

Just put on some STI front struts, springs, and top hats on the CSX and its sitting pretty nice. I put in some chopped rear springs to even out the ride height. Now to find a better shock for the rear. I'll post up some pictures, next week.
Well that only begs the question what are the spring rates of.. all the impreza springs we can possibly use? Whats the rate of the sti springs?
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Here is a picture that shows how the CSX sits with STI fronts and with cut rear springs
