I was thinking of making a set of wheel adapter so I could run a weld draglite at the track and my stock wheels for the street. Anybody know if they are legal for drag racing?
Thanks Adam

I use that at my local track, they go by NHRA rules and don't say anything.

They also can't see them so how would someone get called on it to know if it really flies? Not like those unobtainable SFI parts get custom made until someone realizes you have been getting away with something.
That said, probably get away with it. Safe is probably a relative term. 180mph is fast but that car was light and I think he was trying to avoid any excessive shockloads so parts would last longer and launches would be consistent. The honda guys running those times would snap lugnuts on manual trans setups.

According to the HNRA Rulebook on Spacers:
Nothing in there on "adapters" per se5:2 WHEELS
Hubcaps must be removed for inspectors, who will check for loose lugs, cracked wheels, worn or oversize lug holes, and condition of spindles, axle nuts, cotter pins, etc. Snap-on hubcaps are prohibited on any class car. The use of “spinner” style wheels or any wheel design that incorporates movable pieces while vehicle is in motion or stationary are prohibited. Each car in competition must be equipped with automotive-type wheels with a minimum 12 inches of diameter unless Class Requirements stipulate otherwise. Motorcycle wheels or lightweight automotive wire wheels must be equipped with .100-inch minimum diameter steel spokes, properly cross-laced to provide maximum strength. All spoke holes in rim and hub must be laced. Omissions to lighten wheels prohibited. The thread engagement on all wheel studs to the lug nut, or lug bolts to wheel hubs, must be equivalent to or greater than the diameter of the stud/bolt. Length of the stud/bolt does not determine permissibility. (Example: A 7/16-inch stud must be thoroughly engaged through the threads in the hex portion of the lug a minimum of 7/16-inch.) Wheel spacer permitted. Spacer to be either hub-centric or lug-centric and must fit with minimal clearance to retain concentricity. The wheel
spacer must not reduce the minimum permitted thread engagement below the limits established by fastener diameter. (See example as stated above.) No stacking of wheel spacers allowed. Maximum rim width on any car: 16 inches. No rear wheel discs or covers permitted in any category. Top Fuel and Funny Car rear wheels must meet SFI Spec 15.4. Pro Stock, Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and Pro Modified (Comp) must meet a minimum of SFI Spec 15.1.
SebringLX's wheels (26's i rented) have a wierd offset and he used adapters to space them out. I couldnt use the adapters cuz althought hey are 1.25" thick, that was not thick enough to accomodate the long wheel studs I have. They work fine for his stock wheel studs and no issues are various tracks for him, but then again, they see a 4-door sebring and probably dont even look at it, LOL, a Spirit might be OK too? LOL
There are plenty of light 5x100 wheels out there...
You could run the welds on the street too with Flowmaster 40's so everyone asked you when they made a 4-door Mustang

Since I sell rims a few guys asked me how to convert one lug pattern to another or simply put modern rims on old hot rods...I found the following site that seems to have the lowest prices. Everyone that got them liked them. If you need to know clearances when using various offsets or sizes, let me know. ataylorracing@comcast.net

Well the rules did mention them as long as the studs are long enough, they are fine. Gotta read between the lines,Originally Posted by badassperformance

Thanks guys or the input! I think I going to make some 5x100 to 5x4.5 addapter at 2" wide. I should be able to run 8" wide draglite withe a 6.5 back space. I hope!
I sell Mustang rims and happen to have a set of used bullets for $200, I'd have to check gas prices for delivery fee.n Here is the van that used to have them, AND have a NEW set of 17x9 with 2 1/2 inch lip instainless, 35 mm offset....if you want them to stick way out...$440.
Both sets are Mustang lug pattern, but the blacks are also 5x120 pattern.

That is going to stick out a lot Adam. A 1" set of adapters will work better. I think that is the thinnest set that will also change the bolt pattern. On a 8" wheel a +35 mm offset is pretty standard. For slicks you can get away with a little less. I wouldn't go less than +20 with the size tire you want to run.
Here's a chart that will tell you within a couple millimeters:
