^ that sounds like a WONDERFUL idea.
The more decent aftermarket strut options, the merrier!
Would you know if an aftermarket subaru progressive spring would work on the omni strut? Without major modification.
Do you know the part numbers for those struts? If you do can you post them.

Just got the Koni adjustable strut tubes today, made some measurements and feel pretty good about it. I'm going to take a STOCK strut tower assy. and put the Subaru yellow Koni Tubes into the Stock strut assy. This way i know the length of the tube and shaft is correct, only mod i would have to do is the lathe of the shaft 3/4 of an inch from the threaded area.
Apparently the only way to get the koni is by getting the tube inserts, if i was going to do the work to install them into subaru strut assy. why not try to put them into our OE strut assy. this way i wouldn't have to change the camber adjustment holes that attach to the knuckle.
Let us know how that works out, and TAKE PICS!

Yes they are the cut the top and secure the bottom type, altho its gonna be close, i won't have much play room when it comes to cutting the top but i can always peel back the stock caps they use at the top, or i can shave down the bottom of the koni where the bolt goes in and shave the bolt down a bit, ther's alot of thread
I GOT THIS
I REALLY want to know how the convert-a-strut works out! PLEASE keep us updated!
some vague info about this is also in this thread.
but please let us still know what you used, if you have already got around to actually install them on the car
using that app you can also get KYB monomax ~$50, and rancho rs9000 adjustable for ~$100. I believe Simon has some of those adjustable ranchos on the back of his van.
They adjust externally with a knob, which is light years ahead of koni's in practicality, a bit cheaper, and still in production!

Cant wait to hear someone say they've got agxs on front and ranchos on back, this could be a new beginning for k-car suspension options.
Do it!
I've got KYB GR2s on the back and Gas Adjusts (IIRC) on the front. Both sets are likely nearly shot even though the GR2s are only less than 2yrs old. A set of Bilsteins on the back as cheap as I can find are going to be over $130. A set of fronts that don't have to be chucked up in a lathe and that will last a few years would be great.
The info here is fantastic though and thanks for all the research and effort.
