Is there really a big difference between the 005 and 006 headgasket?
I understand the difference is the cross drilled holes in the turbo II head. However I have heard the holes dont really make much of a cooling difference.

I believe some of the coolant passages are restricted in the 006 gasket to force more water through the cross drilled holes. All the guys have pretty much convinced me to run an 005 gasket from now on.
+1
ive been running the 2K5 for over 3 years now....only a moron would run the 2K6 after seeing the difference side by side!!!! ive been trying to convince a friend in town to switch but he still wont listen
PS ill get some pics...i just picked up 3 2K5's 2day...and have a brand new 2K6 here as well (that i refused to use)....all stocked on headgaskets for the year, i hope
I'm rebuilding my '89 2.5 motor and ready to install the cylinder head. '89 and above are cross-drilled, right?, and should use the 006 gasket. After reading this thread last month, I bought the 005 instead. Can someone verify one last time that I'm not screwing up by using the 005 on my cross-drilled head? Hope to get the head on this weekend......
Randy
Yes, you can use the 005 gasket.
