Custom cal boost control to mimic a grainger?

Is there any reason why I might not be able to get the factory boost control (Running T1 setup) to act like a grainger? I know it will probably never be as quick in response, but close enough is fine. I've been modifying my WasteGateDC vs. RPM and WasteGateDC vs. Boost tables to increase duty cycle overall. For the most part, they have a similar shape to the factory curves, with a steeper rise on the WGDC vs. boost table. However, I cannot seem to get boost to build "instantaneously" to my boost target in all gears. The best I get is an instant 5psi then a slow rise to target as my RPM's increase (even with a quick downshift where I may initially get >5psi, it'll drop to 5psi and then rise to target). I've already checked timing and disconnected the WGA and it builds boost quickly and uncontrollably at ~2400 RPM. I'm running a 0.025" mig welder tip as a restrictor and everything seems to be plumbed fine as per the T1 diagrams.

A grainger is analogous to a T1 bleed control that has 100% DC till the boost target is reached. Is this correct? So does it make sense to toss out the factory WGDC curves and flat line WGDC vs. RPM to 100% and WGDC vs. Boost to 0% up until boost target, where it steps to -100% (effectively 0% DC at boost target)?

Am I misinterpreting the way that the T1 boost control set-up operates? or a grainger for that matter? Are their any other tables that have an affect on how the turbo builds boost?

    Thanks for the help!

Which cal are you using? I modified the boost control in T-SMEC to do exactly what you are talking about. I added a table that looks at the difference to boost target and adds to the WGDC based on the difference. So, if you are very far from the boost target, for example, it can set the WGDC to 100%. Then, taper it off as you get closer to the target boost.

I'm running your scaled SBEC 90MP_MTX_3-Bar_Sw-Bst_+40 cal, still waiting for T-SBEC

Ahhh, I see. As soon as I get the SBEC flash module parts ordered, I'll take a couple weeks and finish up T-SBEC. But, I have to get my prototype working, first.

Thanks Rob, I really appreciate it! I wouldn't even have a running car if it weren't for you! But do you have any tips for doing this in the mean time?
