Did the vans come turbo in 88? I was looking at one for sale and it doesn't say what motor is in it. It has the pinstriping on the side like I see on a lot of turbo vans but can't make out from the pictures whether or not it says turbo above the pinstriping on the fender.
I always thought they were 89' and 90' only.
Me too, but I read something on allpar (taken with a grain of salt) that said they came in 88's too. It just looks like a turbo van to me lol, I guess I'll have to wait for the seller to email me back. Who knows, could be a typo on their part....I hope.
OK, just for S's&G's went to rockauto.com to see their engine choices for an 88 Voyager and they only list the 2.5TBI(tall deck?) and 3.0 V6 so I guess that answers my question.

Working on clearing the decks.
I have a video from 1984 showing all sorts of stuff going on at chrysler both r&d and production of cars. In one segment there is a room with the front ends of several caravans and you can see a turbo 2.2 in it. they are talking about making sure that things fit in an engine bay yada yada. So they may have been thinking about it that far back.
I have seen a pic of a AWD turbo minivan at the Shelby Performance Center... early 4 headlight style... you could not buy it tho!

Heh, there were two at the yard last weekend but we were busy gutting a t2 Daytona. One was an 89 t1/a555 and the other was a 91 or 92 TBI/a523That would be cool, but hopefully, I'll be making my own,

Find a dealer down there willing to buy it out for you. I'm pretty sure in florida you can do that.. Check your laws though.. Here in illinois if you have a dealers license even if its in the yard they can buy it. They just can't legally sell it to Joe public. Since your in florida sounds like a good find for sure.

If it is a turbo it could be a early 89 built in 88 and the people think its an 88. My 89 mini was built in 88. Some ES and LX vans that had the pin striping like some of the turbo vans were 3.0's

If you can get the VIN number when your looking check the 8th digit. J=2.5 Turbo, K=2.5TBI, 3=3.0V6.
