Some basic tuning questions

I have a Van with a 2.5 ported G-head tbi header and turbonetics 50 trim hybrid.

I am tuning a TSMEC cal for my van and I was wondering if you guys have any tips.
the van has always been sluggish off the line, anything I can do in the cal to help this?

I have heard that timing advance can lower EGTs What else?

Check out the 2.5 G-Head cal in the repository. It should give you a good indication of the timing you should be running. I plan to make a 2.5 G-Head template from that cal for a future release of T-SMEC (at least a template update...).

That worked for me. I have a 2.2 with a ported g-head with +1 valves. After running the cal, referencing the 2.5 g-head and scaling for the injectors I have, it runs much better. My head had been cc'd so I am running a 7.5:1 compression ratio. Off the line is not as flat as it used to be, mid-range and top end are much stronger.
