    Fittings help.

I am redoing my trans cooler and figured I might as well stop using the slide and clamp regular hose and upgrade to remove hose ends, IE Earls etc so I can just unscrew the fitting off the trans. I have gone thru the book and am a little confused. I just want to use the Earls or whomever fittings and put regular hose on, that way, its alot cheaper and easier and no special fittings, crimpers etc.

So I'll be running -6 for the trans, which is 3/8, stock is 5/16.

This is the fitting I am looking at, so could I use this and slide on regular hose and clamp it? If not, what other options do I have. I dont' want to spend a $1000 doing this,

You should be able to no problem. We have transmission line hose here, is that what you are going to use?

Have you thought about getting one of these hydraulic flaring tools?

Yep, just use regular tranny hose. I figure the fittings will cost me about $100 but make it some much easier to take apart.

    That kit looks awfully expensive,

Trust me it is. I have one and it makes the best line flares. Fuel, brake, trans....bunch of different sizes. Lets you buy bulk line and make your own.
Goes for $325-$400. It is worth it.

You push their special hose on then use there fitting and tighten it up, all extra of course.

I have seen it done with regular hose. It is still a barbed fitting. Use the Chrysler style fuel line hose clamps for better holding power. Very simple.
