I guess metal galling is part of the design. For what they charge they should at least so some nitride treatment, needle bearings or something to that effect.

James, just smooth out the rogh areas and install some shims!!!!
It looks like it needs some channels to allow the lubricant easier access to those parts. Just looks like high pressure, low lube galling, not anything broke or was installed wrong(as you already know). I wonder if there is a way to get the oil to flow into those parts better?

DONE! Twice as a matter of fact.
Also just got done removing and installing new input shaft bearings.

Lots and lots! It's been in there for 6 years or so I think? I purchased it from Cindy and had it shipped to Cliff years ago...so I don't have a record of when I purchased it.

Yes! So we have to be SHHHH!!! about me taking it apart! LOL! I also replaced the M8x1.25 12.9 SHCS because a couple of them were galled and 1 was stripped after putting it back together the first time.

I would add some channels for lubrication, but this thing is d*mn near impossible to machine. You can see where I machined 4 of the ring gear bolt holes to accept the 3.05 FD ring gear.

Do those side gears feel as rough as they look in the pictures? If so, it might be time to contact the manufacturer.

They look really rough, but are really smooth to the touch and have no high spots.....so I left them. I did grind off the flashing from the wear on the i.d. and o.d.

I got mine used (not complaining, it was cheaper then the OBX intro price), and highly doubt the previous owner setup the warranty card. i heard if u send em 50 euros n the quaife they will get you on warranty.

Hard to believe. Do you have to have the original purchase receipt or do they take care of problems as long as its a Quaife? Ive got one in my car, but I didnt put it in.
