904 input shaft for A413-Supplier listed.

Every so often I see someone mention using a 904 input shaft to beef up their A413 trans. Is this shaft usable as is or does it need to be modified to fit? I'd like to build my automatic as strong and reliable as possible. It will be going onto a 16V 2.5 hybrid which I expect to have 500 HP.

all you need to do to use this shaft is have your torque converter modified

I don't think anyone has ever sheered an input shaft on a 5speed, not even Wallace or 4SFED4. Maybe cryo treating?

Why has noone sheered a 5 speed shaft. That seems crazy. Oh well, Im quite sure I will sheer the small spline in my 3.50 tranny this season if I get the boost up.

Because you cant brake torque a 5-speed. Brake torquing at the line puts a TON of stress on the input shaft. A 5-speed doesn't really see that much stress until the motor builds boost and is already rotating.

Re: 904 input shaft for A413?

I have only seen one input shaft break on a manual tranny. It sheared-twisted like a drill bits' tip.

I think I have done somthing similar and have not removed the mtx yet to see what broke. That is why a am installing a built ATX myself. I vote that this get s turned into a sticky!
