    Stock Fuel Pump Replacement

    Hey Guys,

    I have a 1988 Daytona Shelby Z and it needs a new fuel pump. What is the best stock replacement for the older large style Bosch stock pump? I am aware of the Walbro 255 and 190, but I'm looking for the best long term reliability in a stock setup. I have seen some conflicting reviews on this and other sites, here are the pumps I was looking at.

    Walbro 190 or 255lph

    Bosch Replacement, Includes hanger:
    BOSCH Part # 67627

    Carter Replacement - Pump only
    CARTER Part # P74115 {In Tank Fuel Pump and Strainer Set}
    w/ Bosch OE Pump

    Thanks!

    Re: Stock Fuel Pump Replacement

    Well the Carter P74115 is a TBI pump... Would a 190lph or 255lph Walbro be better for my stock setup. I don't really need the flow of the 255, but will go for it if its the best choice. Are there any noise/longevity issues between the two pumps?

    Fuel supply all depends on your goals for HP... a stock pump can supply plenty of fuel for decent HP... as long as its workign, which it sounds like yours is not. If you plan to leave it stock, the 190 is fine... if you think you'll want to make 300hp later.. just get the 255 now. No difference in longevity between them, just flow rate.

    Re: Stock Fuel Pump Replacement

    Go with the Walbro 190, me and another guy had problems with the 255 high pres. pump running out of fuel on left turns and also with less than a half tank. I never did find a fix other than putting my 190 back in. I beleive the 255 actually sucked the bucket it sits in dry as the return hose doesn't fill it very well. This is in a G body as well.
