Code 24 (Throttle Position Sensor) Keeps Coming Back (1986 GLHS)

first threw code 24 over the winter during a routine start-up.

I ran the full set of diagnostic procedures covered in the 1986 2.2L Turbo Driveability Test Procedure handbook. All the voltage tests checked out ok, so the final recommendation from the Handbok was "replace TPS".

Got a brand new TPS (Mopar part not aftermarket), installed it, cleared the codes, and as soon as i fired it up again, Code 24 returned. I cleared the codes, checked all the wiring again, fired it up and Code 24 came up again.

Took it for a brief low speed test drive yesterday and there was a couple of times the car stumbled very briefly as i slowly accelerated in 1st gear, but i couldnt get it to repeat every time....wideband shows a/f is right on target. Code 24 is still set. No other fault codes are set.

what else could be setting Code 24? thanks.

Possible bad connection in the harness plug? I've had that occur a few times.

Make sure the logic module connection are clean and tight. That is what was happening to me when I repaired the harness I bought from someone a couple years back. Also, make sure the terminals are in the right cavities. I had to move several of mine for the GLHS setup versus the T-1 setup.

    that was it!

after some tech help from Jonny B i was able to isolate the problem as being a bad connection at the 6-way throttle body plug, a little dielectric grease fixed it.

    thanx for the tips everyone.
