how much horse on a t1 block

im interested in doing mods to my lancer, and it has the t1 block. so far im thinking of ported manifolds, a 50 trim in the future, new fuel stuff, and a computer tune, a front mount, and a 3 inch exhaust system. these are my plans for my car at this point.

my question is will the t1 block and a520 tranny hold up alright to these mods? i dont want to spend money and end up with a busted block or something.

The block and tranny should hold just fine pending their condition. The T1 block is indeed the weakest of the bunch but plenty have taken them into the 12's and I'm sure some further. I have always heard stay away from the early T1 due to lightweight rods taking a vacation but I have never known anyone personally have this happen...only rumors. I would say it like this:

You can get away with it.

...as for the A520. Make sure the oil is good stuff/fresh and put an good diff in it and call it good. it never hurts to have spares though

ok thanks for the responce all. maybe it would be wise of me to have new forged rods and pistons put into the block to avoid problems.
