a 568 problems

ok the one in my car apparently has beat 3rd and 4th syncros which kinda bothers me considering i have one on the floor of my garage thats stuck in reverse but that doesnt bother me as much as its a rebuilt trans stuck in reverse

so anyone know how i could get it out of reverse? or get me a mopar part number on the trans rebuild book for the 568s?

i guess the kid said it was always in reverse even before he put it in

i would get the tools needed and take it apart. there is not much to a 568, you can take it apart and put it together with minimal tools.

Sounds like the shift forks were not alligned correctly when the top plate was installed.

i think i need the book... maybe i could learn how to rebuild them

i was playin with it today... it has to be the shift rails out of alignment because it has the side to side movement but not the in and out of gear movement

You need one special tool to take off the reverse gear. Even if you manage to get it off, you need to torque it after you put it together. If that was too broad an opinion I say this.... Get the special tool. It's cheap.

But other then that, pretty straight forward rebuild. Hard part is getting all the correct parts ordered with out the parts guy screwin up the order.

ill get the part number for the kit but i could still use a part number for the rebuild book and the special tool...

and do i have to press anything?

You can use a 3 arm puller for the one with bad syncro's. You shouldn't need it for the one that is stuck in reverse. Press or puller, if you're stripping the shafts, you'll need a bearing splitter. None of the tools you need are expensive...
