Since I no longer have the head on the engine (16v conversion) I can't figure out a good way to stop the crank from turning while I loosen off the crank bolts so I can install my new 16v timing belt, any tips from the pros

Air tools or stick a screwdriver in a hole in the flywheel.
Kevin Isenberg EVERYTHING is for sale!
Got no air tools and the engine is still in the car, and it's a 5spd car so no real holes to jam it into
Are you talking about the timing sprocket or what

I know people that swear by these things. I'm definitely tempted to go out and buy one.
no the pulley not the timing gear and I don't have access to air
borrow electric impact from shop if you have the money for security deposit.
Engine & trans in the car? Put it in gear with the tires on the ground and chocked up...Originally Posted by Garret
Engine only in the car? Buy a Flywheel turning tool and hold it by the flywheel that way...

I got one and it works pretty well... not sure if I'd swear on it tho. It is way better than the Craftsman 1/2" gun that came with my 30 gallon compressor tho.Originally Posted by The S is Silent
